A CRY OF PRAYER FOR NIGERIA – JULY 25

This Saturday a cry of prayer for an end to the genocidal slaughter of Christians will go up across Nigeria, around the world, and, hopefully, once you read this, your own home!

“One Day. One Nation. A Cry Rising from Nigeria,” is the global declaration of A MILLION WOMEN NIGERIA. Part of the international “Esther and Mordecai” movement, A MILLION WOMEN, this effort for Nigeria explains that this is more than an event on a calendar — it is a PROPHETIC APPOINTMENT.

The churches across Nigeria — including our own wonderful Anglican Church of Nigeria — have been faith in spite of horrific persecution, faithful unto death. Their misery and trauma have been ignored, denied, and downplayed with appallingly offensive false narratives such as the one that mask genocide as “the result of climate change.”

Even those who should have known better — brothers and sisters in the global Body of Christ, often have failed to prioritize the suffering of their siblings in Nigeria. Frankly, it took being shamed by the exposure of Nigerian Christian genocide by secular, agnostic social influencer Bill Maher for many Christians to start responding. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

But, as the leaders of A MILLION WOMEN have said, this day of prayer, taking place in less than two days, is a prophetic appointment. “In this critical hour, the Lord is calling His people to respond: not with passivity, but with repentance, fasting, and united prayer,” A MILLION WOMEN urges. Their Scriptural theme is Joel 2: 15-17:

“Consecrate a fast, call a solemn assembly… let the priests, who minister to the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar.”

A MILLION WOMEN NIGERIA has been in the process of prayer and fasting since July 17 across all 36 states in Nigeria and throughout the Diaspora. Now they are preparing for this final day. They are Esthers and Mordecais standing in faith against evil, contending for their nation through prayer, and declaring that Jesus Christ is Lord over Nigeria. And they hope and pray that you will join them.
